These sets can focus on specific tactical motifs, previous mistakes, or spaced repetition learning algorithms that prioritize unsolved problems. Note that custom sets need to be created on the Chesstempo.com website before using on the app.

The app also allows users to play chess with other Chesstempo users, supporting both live and correspondence games. After every rated game played, users can receive a full post-game analysis. Premium members can even extract tactics problems from their rated games and solve them in the tactics training UI. Additionally, users can create black and white repertoires, import them from PGN, and train them using spaced repetition. The app also provides an opening explorer to choose moves for repertoires, and an endgame training feature. Lastly, users can learn by playing through master games and analyze positions using cloud engines (requires premium membership).
